Do I Need GDS?

Global Distribution System platforms (GDS) include substantial setup fees and commissions (both for the platform and any travel agents involved), and they usually have a minimum number of rooms for properties they allow on their platforms.

These platforms are really only for very large hotels or hotel chain groups. One way to think about it is if your property is setup to receive tour buses full of guests, then GDS might be for you. Otherwise you definitely don't need it.
